FSU Beyond Borders Students Spend Spring Break Immersed in Jamaican Culture

Beyond Borders Jamaica

Last fall, students from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica came to Tallahassee to learn about life as an FSU student as part of the CGE's cultural exchange program Beyond Borders. Last week 12 FSU students and two team leaders spent Spring Break in Jamaica with those same students.

FSU student Isiah Parfait said the experience was a life changer. "Participating in Beyond Borders allowed me to discover pieces of myself I had not known and learn about a culture in an immersive first-hand way," he said. "I could not have had a more genuine experience."

Beyond Borders offers an alternative to traditional academic study abroad programs and provides students with short-term cultural learning experiences in either Jamaica or Germany. If you are interested in the opportunity to be immersed in another culture and build meaningful, cross-cultural friendships, visit the Beyond Borders page on the CGE website for more details.
